Kerala Blasters midfielder and Indian football icon Renedy Singh has joined Bulgarian powerhouse CSKA Sofia on a loan deal.The Manipuri medio will be a part of, statistically, the most successful club in the history of the Bulgarian Premier League. Since their initiation in 1948, CSKA have won 31 domestic titles and 19 national cups. They are also the most successful Bulgarian club in Europe having reached two European Cup semi-finals and four European Cup quarter-finals.Renedy, who was a regular on India’s left flank for over a decade, has 72 caps to his credit. He made two appearances for Kerala Blasters FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) but has represented an array of clubs over the past 18 years, starting his career at Mohun Bagan. He also turned out for Chirag United, JCT FC, East Bengal, United Sikkim and Shillong Lajong. A product of the Tata Football Academy, he is considered one of the best dead ball specialists in the history of Indian football.Renedy’s ability to get onto the score sheet and his consistent displays made him an indispensable asset for the national team, for whom he has scored on 12 occasions. He has won accolades such as the Nehru Cup in 2007 and the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 among others with India. His domestic career saw him win the National Football League three times with Mohun Bagan. He has won the Federation Cup, Durand Cup and IFA Shield among other honours.The president of Football Players' Association of India, Renedy Singh will look to make his mark on the Bulgarian League as he continues to make our country proud.
